Reflections for tomorrow (and more)

To our WFO community,

Like you, we have been thinking a great deal about the future of our state and country as we head into another consequential election day, perhaps the most consequential of our lifetime. Entering tomorrow with a combination of hope and anxiety, we recognize what is at stake not only in this moment in time but for the next generation.

Considering all that this election is connected to, when anxiety starts to take over, we remember how preserving our democracy, working together, fighting for justice and equity, and focusing on the future has never been easy. But this is our purpose, our work, our goal, and what is the most urgent calling right now.  We truly believe democracy is feminist.

Today, our only ask, (okay, two asks) is to make sure that you and your circle have voted or are going to vote tomorrow and that you take a moment to take care of yourself. We will be in communication after election day, as we plan together for the future of our state and country.

In solidarity,

The Women's Foundation of Oregon Team

Please join us for an important virtual conversation, Demystifying the Process: Navigating the Oregon Legislator and OLIS (Oregon Legislature Information System.)” On Tuesday, November 19th at 12pm PST. This webinar is for anyone in Oregon who wants to learn how to engage with state lawmakers and participate in the legislative process. As election season comes to an end, it is important for us to remain engaged, hold our elected officials accountable and use our voice year-round to effectively advocate for ourselves, our communities and our future.

We will cover a lot of ground and discuss:

  • the legislative process and how bills become laws,

  • the key roles within the legislature,

  • how to meaningfully connect with your lawmakers, and

  • how to provide public testimony and track bills during session.

Please CLICK HERE to register to join us to demystify the process and learn more about becoming an engaged and effective advocate in Oregon. We encourage you to share with your networks and join in our efforts to become better informed about local politics and more involved in direct action. We look forward to seeing you there!
